Morning Star

This is the final book in the first Red Rising trilogy.

The set pieces are fantastic. The action is fantastic. The character development is fantastic (I particularly liked the growth of Sevro, Mustang, Victra, and Cassius).

The story connects seamlessly and elegantly to the first two books. The middle part of Morning Star drags, just a bit, but the last third kicks in hard and races to the end.

Speaking of the end – Pierce Brown really sticks the landing. A good ending is hard to find and even harder to do. This level of execution gives me great hope for the as-yet-unreleased third book in the second trilogy.

Confusion: Is “Red Rising” two trilogies? Or, is it a hexalogy? (I had to look up “what is a six-book series called” to get that term). I tend to think of it as two trilogies telling two separate stories during two defined periods.
