Sleeping Giants

It’s been a little while since I read a book I hadn’t read before. It was nice to get back to it.

I missed the fun of reading a story I didn’t already know. And this story by Sylvain Neuvel is dumb and interesting, and maybe kind of smart, too?

As pieces of a giant ancient robot are discovered on Earth, we start to learn what it is, what it can do, and where it came from. It’s all told through interviews and news clips and the like–similar to the book World War Z (which it’s compared to, and which is a better book).

The unnamed interviewer is also an interesting approach - you learn very little about this guy, but when you do learn even the slightest thing it feels like a huge win.

There are more books in this series so I’ll keep going with it to see what’s up with this giant robot.
