Schitt's Creek, seasons 1-5

I remember when I first saw the ad for this show. Eugene Levy? A punny title? No thanks. But … I was wrong.

This show reminds me a little of “Parks and Recreation.” It’s broad and the characters are ridiculous, but the reason it works is because it’s fundamentally good. The people are good people (if deeply flawed). The town is a good town. And its outlook is always positive. It can’t help but be authentic, and it can’t help but reject cynicism.

It also has the most wonderful representation of a loving gay couple. David and Patrick’s relationship drives home the importace of representation in pop culture. This shit matters.
