The Worst of All Possible Worlds

This is the final book in Alex White’s Salvagers series.

I’m sorry it’s come to an end. These books hit the sweet spot for me: space, spaceships, space battles, great action, a twisty mythology, excellent world building, and lots of banter between the main characters. I’ll miss Boots and Nilah and Orna and Cordell … and Kin, too. I had a soft spot for Boots’ AI buddy.

Alex White sticks the landing. I had a vague idea of how the story might end–a confrontation with Big Bad Henrick Witts seemed inevitable–yet when the end arrived I was surprised and it made complete sense.

There’s a hint of another story–the twins, Jeannie and Alister, have unfinished business–so maybe we’ll get another run with the Capricious crew.

Two other things:

  1. The titles in this series are delightful: A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe; A Bad Deal for the Whole Galaxy; and The Worst of All Possible Worlds.

  2. LEGO needs to come out with sets for the Capricious, the Rocinante, and Serenity. I will buy them all.
