The Spy Who Dumped Me

“The Spy Who Dumped Me” is a rare R-rated comedy.

The movie is generally fine. I like how it avoids portraying women as helpless. That’s a cliche that needs to die.

Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon have good chemistry. But the film is funny, not hilarious. A similar film, “Spy,” rose to much greater heights because it had exceptional moments.

And another thing: Kate McKinnon needs more movie opportunities. I loved her in “Ghostbusters” as Holtzmann. She walked a tightrope between bizarre and funny and she never once faltered.
