Ford v Ferrari

Matt Damon and Christian Bale are both very good and the racing scenes are visceral, but the film is too long.

While well made, this is yet another story about unbalanced white dudes doing “remarkable” things, but never being held accountable for the trauma they create.

You know how these stories go: A driven guy is compelled to do something. His supportive wife/partner and supportive kid/kids stay by his side through the inevitable disappointments. They absorb all of his bullshit. When the guy accomplishes his goal, we’re led to believe he’s conquered his demons and he’ll be a wonderful partner and father from that point on.

Let’s be done with this. It’s a false narrative that enables bad behavior.
